Has it ever happened to you that you forgot a birthday of a good friend? Well, I do. Oops! But, as luck often comes with misfortune, it resulted in forest and bear as it is today!

Forest and bear is a webshop with handmade wall stickers that turns the baby's room, children's room or any other room into a stylish and personalized space. And that in an instant! Okay, almost. The wall stickers are for children, but they are completely stylish and all eye-catchers that make you as a parent happy. Kill two birds with one stone! A wall sticker on the wall is a simple and affordable way to give the room the finishing touch. Or also proverbial: the finishing touches, the icing on the cake.

I design the wall stickers myself with a lot of love or are designed by another designer. The whole process is manual work and every order is made especially for you.

From the sentence: 'Wow, now the room is completely finished!' it's what makes me happy. When a customer says that to me, I'm a happy person. A wall sticker is of course only a wall sticker, but there is definitely something behind it. The feeling of being ready, after you have decorated the baby's room from head to toe. Making your child happy, because he or she has been given his or her dream room. Making a statement in the desired space. All consequences of the carefully chosen wall stickers. They are small actions, but with a greater impact than you might initially think.

How it started

Let's talk about that forgotten birthday. Because yes, why did it result in forest and bear? Well, after that incident, I decided it should never happen to me again and hunted for a birthday calendar. That seemed like a useful tool. But to my great disappointment, I couldn't find a calendar that met my needs (and budget). I decided to throw my skills into the fray (I gained graphic experience from my education) and designed my own birthday calendar. I liked the process of designing and devising so much that I continued with it. They just didn't become calendars but wall stickers!

A little about me

Together with my husband Lars and two sons aged 6 and 4 I live in Groningen, we have just moved and have received the key to our diy house. This is not the first time we are going to renovate a house! Renovating a house and decorating every room and space stylishly and to our taste is something I love to do.

What else makes me happy? Children sleeping in, that is really a blessing! Haha, craziness of course. I can really enjoy my children by, for example, walking together and then getting something tasty. Cozy! In addition, I love to go to the sea and feel the fresh wind through my hair and that the children are enjoying themselves in the meantime. It gives me peace and relaxation.

Believe it or not, I'm allergic to banana. Ha, I'm probably the only person on all of this earth! The smell alone makes me nauseous and that is sometimes quite difficult when it is the favorite snack of your two children...

There is an orchid named after me. My mother worked in an orchid company and about 20 years ago they named their new species after women. So I'm one of them and I think that's a great honor!

One last random fact: I used to want to be an archaeologist, until I found out that it means sitting in a muddy pit for days and having to be very patient. I thought, hey, scoop in and you'll find a dino, but alas, it doesn't work that way.
